We undertook audits and mapped parks and open spaces as part of reviews to inform the preparation of landscape and grounds maintenance contract specifications. As part of the Wealden review this involved the preparation of updates to Management Plans for a number of countryside sites. The MSDC review involved the mapping of all parks and open spaces on GIS (undertaken in association with Maydencroft Ltd)

London Borough of Barnet: Parks and Open Spaces Review
Barnet

Appointed in association with Strategic Leisure Limited to prepare a review of LBB’s parks and open spaces operations, management and finances, focusing on current management practice and costs, identification of potential areas for rationalisation, improved efficiency in service delivery and cost savings and opportunities to generate greater income. We analysed existing green spaces income performance against industry norms to identify areas of underperformance and considered options which could be delivered in LBB green spaces to increase income. The review also compared LBB green spaces maintenance/quality standards with industry norms and LBB strategies to identify areas/activities resulting in excessive costs; and considered overall management and maintenance structures.…

Thamesmead Management Strategies
Thamesmead

Preparation of management strategies identifying opportunities for enhancement through creation and management. The strategy interventions are provided as a GIS layer with associated datasets and costs plans to enable progress to be monitored and updated (undertaken in association with Maydencroft Ltd). The strategies describe the proposed interventions, options for implementation (in house teams, contractor, volunteers), provide planting palettes to address biodiversity, climate change resilience and amenity objectives and project costings.

Our experience in green and open spaces audits includes:
  • Parks and open spaces audit of over 100 sites in the London Borough of Ealing. The audit has informed the first update of the Borough Parks and Opens Spaces Strategy and the LDF Framework.
  • Green Flag audits of parks in support of HLF funded applications through the 'Parks for People' scheme.
  • Audit and evaluation of the nature conservation interest and potential of parks and open spaces in Hammersmith and Fulham
  • Evaluation of the nature conservation interest and potential of Wildlife Corridors in Tunbridge Wells

Open Space Strategy for the London Borough of Richmond

Joint lead consultant in the preparation of an Open Spaces Strategy for the London Borough of Richmond. The Strategy explores options for the management and funding of parks and open spaces across the Borough, including traditional Borough funding, partnerships, social enterprise and increased direct involvement by Friends Groups.

South Essex Greengrid Sustainable Land Management Review
Essex

Overview of sustainable land management and the relevance and viability of techniques and practices to the South Essex Greengrid Area. The strategy evaluated management opportunities for a range of landscape 'types' such as Urban Greenways, Transport Corridors, Brownfield sites and Urban Fringe (taken forward as the overall Greengrid Strategy), in terms of priority, viability, funding and resourcing, and stewardship options. The review assessed opportunities associated with existing funding streams such as Environmental Stewardship as well as new opportunities, for instance through bio-fuel energy generation.
