LMS prepared the first full update of the Management Plan for The Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill (completed in 2012). The Management Plan sets out a high level set of management principles and policies which are taken forward through the annual Park Operations Plan. Following completion of the Management Plan we were commissioned to prepare a Tree and View Management Strategy which analysed the current condition of views in and out of the park of the Nash Terraces, with recommendations for future management to re-create and maintain historic views. We were also commissioned to prepare detailed designs and planting plans for the Cascade and Island in Queen Mary’s Garden and for the refurbishment of the Winter Garden.

Battersea Park Heritage Impact Assessment
Battersea Park HIA

LMS was commissioned by the London Borough of Wandsworth to prepare a Heritage Impact Assessment in relation to a proposed Formula E Event (electric car racing) to be held in Battersea Park in 2015. The event required full closure of the Park to the general public for the duration of the 1-2 day event and incorporated installation of the track, corporate hospitality, entertainment and meantime activities for paying spectators, plus catering, refreshments and welfare facilities for 30,000 spectators. The event required infrastructure changes to facilitate the safe racing of cars around the carriage drives of the park, including resurfacing and realignment of sections of the carriage drives and kerbing and the installation of safety barriers. The HIA considered the heritage significance of the designed landscape and built fabric of the Park, identified potential impacts (during set-up, the event itself and dismantling phases) on the heritage assets of the Grade II* listed park, with particular emphasis on the many mature trees which are a key contributor to the Park’s overall character and quality, and on public access. We assessed proposed mitigation, and made further recommendations as appropriate for measures before and during the event and, as necessary, post-event remediation together with long-term reinstatement of the Park. LMS was subsequently appointed to prepare updates to the report for the same event in 2016 and 2017.
